PMP® Exam Prep - Rita’s Course in a Book® for Passing the PMP Exam, Eigth Edition - Rita Mulcahy, PMP
This book is the most respected study guide for PMP prep. It’s designed to be a workbook with a fill-in-the-blank format and some cut out puzzles. Its language is easy to understand and its thorough. The book comes with a CD with 25 sample questions. Rita’s has a PMP Exam Prep school in the States and that’s all she does so she’s right on top of the latest news from PMI.
For most people, with a PMP Prep course, this very comprehensive book is not necessary and a lot to read for busy project managers. Many of those busy students prefer Joseph Phillips or Andy Crowe books below.

Project Management Professional Study Guide, Fourth Edition - Joseph Phillips, PMP
Lots of my students pick this book as their favourite study guide. It has easy to understand language and is a good balance of enough, but not too much. It includes over 500 practice questions with a CD of 150 practice exam questions (exam simulation software) with good answers.
It’s not boring and a good deal for the money.

The PMP EXAM How to Pass on Your First Try, 5th Edition - Andy Crowe, PMP
Well respected author and a well respected book. Another of my favourites, this one is great at getting to the point. There are hundreds of sample exam questions in the book. It includes a one week trial to their website with free sample exam questions and other helpful study materials.
Its good and gets the job done. Especially recommended for seasoned managers with little time to read.

Head First Pmp: A Brain-Friendly Guide to Passing the Project Management Professional Exam - Jennifer Greene and Andrew Stellman
For those easily bored by textbook formats, this is the study guide for you. Almost fun in it's format with a friendly nature, lots of pictures and exercises.
Less corporate with real-to-life examples and practice questions.

Q & A for the PMBOK® Guide - Fifth Edition - Project Management Institute
Great little pocket book to carry with you so you can study while you're waiting. 250 key questions with detailed answers. The 250 must knows.
Only covers questions based on PMBOK® Guide - approximately 70 percent of the content and short on analytical type questions, but really tests rote memory of the basics.
Not too expensive so it makes sense to get this one as a supplement to a second more core study guide. We include it with our PMP® Prep course.

Project Management: A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling [Hardcover]10th Edition - Harold Kerzner, Ph.D
Not a study guide in itself, but I had to recommend it because Kerzner is so very well respected - almost considered the guru of Project Management and the book is a must have for any project manager’s book shelf.
Now in Eleventh Edition, this industry-leading project management "bible" aligns its streamlined approach to the latest release of the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI’s PMBOK® Guide - Fifth Edition). This is a hard cover text book.

McGraw-Hill's PMP Certification Mathematics with CD-ROM - Vidya Subramanian and Ravi Ramachandran
I got this for our PMP student lending library - great for those who struggle with the math portion of the exam. Try the 100 math questions on the CD provided. Then, for the questions you got wrong, read the clear explaination in the book.
A small yet focused book on PMP math.

A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Fifth Edition - Project Management InstituteFor exam after July 30/13
The core material for the exam after July 30/13 - period. All 3rd-party study guides teach the content of this book using a teaching style, as well as teaching the extras on the exam not covered in this book.
I call it the cure for insomnia - read it and you'll fall asleep. I contributed to it (my name is on pages 490 and 499) so I say that with all honesty.

Conversations on the PMP Exam [Audio CD] - Andy Crowe, PMP, PgMP, Bill Yates, PMP and Louis Alderman, PMP
For exam before July 31/13 where new one is due out shortly.
The best audio CD on the PMP® exam based on the PMBOK® Guide - Fifth Edition. My students love borrowing this from our student library. Six CDs are not boring - conversational as the title says. Students are know to listen to these CDs repeatedly until they are ready to write their exam.
Amazon reviews are 4.6 out of 5 for this item.

PMP Project Management Professional Exam Study Guide, Seventh Edition - Kim Heldman
Excellent and trusted study guide by an excellent author. In it’s seventh edition so Kim has been teaching people to pass the PMP exam for quite some time. A bit intense to read, it is what you need to get serious coverage of the exam materials.
Includes over two hours of audio, hundreds of sample questions in the book and 600 with a software test engine and electronic flashcards. You can't go wrong with this book.

Practice Standard for Project Risk Management - Project Management Institute
Because its been said that the Risk area of the PMP® exam is the toughest, I recommend this book for supplementry reading if you find this area hard. I also recommend it just for the excellent tools and techniques section - which apply to many knowledge areas, not just risk, that use some of the same tools and techniques.
This slim book is comprehensive, closely aligned to the PMBOK® Guide and very readable.
